Cai Jia Eng is a London-based artist and designer. She graduated with a BsC in Architecture from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL in 2006. She was awarded one of twelve crafts scholarships by the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust in 2008 for Paper Craft and Illustration. She graduated with a Distinction in Art Foundation from London College of Communication, University of the Arts in 2009, and was awarded "Best in Show". She has exhibited and sold her illustrations and handmade books in London, Oxford, Edinburgh and Barcelona. Her work has retailed at Fortnum and Mason and been featured in a-n magazine and QEST magazine. She completed her PGCE in Secondary Art Education from the University of Cambridge in 2011. She has been the Head of Art and Photography at St Augustine's Priory in Ealing, London since 2015, running a diverse Art Department that teaches students aged 5-18. She is also running a community project there designing and making bespoke commemorative kneeling cushions for the Arts and Crafts chapel to celebrate its 100th birthday. In 2016 she ran the architectural workshop "Artkitecture" with architectural designer David Shanks for students aged 7-13. Her illustrations have been published as an app and sold on iTunes, and are currently being used as educational resources on the rule of law in schools around the UK. She is available for commission for portraiture, design and illustration services. |
